Screenprinting originated in China (around AD 221) as a way of transferring designs onto fabrics. By using a material mesh (silkscreen) with a pattern embedded in it. You then apply this to an item and forcing paint over the top of the mesh, this allows only the patterned bits to let the paint through and in doing so leave the print on the item when the silkscreen is removed.
Jeanne loves to silkscreen as it is almost like magic, it only takes a couple of moments to do for a really great result. I have never had a customer not happy with the results.

The most popular items tend to be Plates and Mugs as a person can use them and give them as presents.
There is a quick turnaround time for pottery and it is usually 2 day. The pottery takes 24 hours to fire and cool down in the kiln. We would aim to have the pottery back to the customer within 2 days from painting for special occasions.
The paint used is completely child safe and stain free, and as we use Bisque Ware the paint dries really fast although the more layers you apply the longer it will take to dry.

Since taking over the Village Café in 2015 Jeanne from Inspirations and I have been working closely together combining her love for arts and crafts and my love for hot chocolates and food !!!
Jeanne has owned Inspirations for 12years now and has always been artistic, even as a child she enjoyed being creative. Jeanne particularly loves Pottery painting as not only it stimulates the imagination but also at the end you have a functional item that you can use.
Her passion has always been for the love of arts and crafts on leaving school she studied Industrial design and went on to work in advertising and media.
Jeanne was born in Queenstown South Africa a very small rural town in the Drakensberg and came to the UK to work and travel after my studies in 2000 which is when she met Kevin her Husband.
Jeanne came to Goring in 2005 and not only fell in love with this very picturesque village on the River Thames but also I felt her shop and arts could make a real contribution to the community, also reminding her very much of her hometown.
